SHOUT OUTS

 

Shout out to the MHS Choirs for an awesome Holiday Concert last night!  It was a wonderful night of holiday music with the audience singing as well!

 

Shout out to boys basketball!  All three levels won against Affton.  Our next game is at home Friday


The Girls Swim Team beat Rockwood last night in a very exciting meet (91 to 89). 

 

Shout out to the Mehlville Debate team who went to Mosaic to work with 4th grade students on debate skills yesterday after school. They will help the 4th graders formulate arguments for their debate, which is whether the colonies should fight for independence- as a patriot or a loyalist.

LOST AND FOUND:  Please stop by the front office to check and claim any lost items.   All remaining unclaimed items will be donated over the winter break.

 

 

MHS Pop Sockets will be sold during lunches on Thursday and Friday in the lower commons for $10.  They will also be available at Ms. Woods desk and at the basketball games.  Make sure you get yours as they are going fast!  These make great stocking stuffers!

 

Attention Seniors!  The MHS Reflector Yearbook is now offering senior recognition ads as a way to recognize your senior year in the yearbook in full color with the pictures and text that you choose. These senior "baby" ads are a popular tradition and a fun way to commemorate senior year.  Ads can be created and purchased online at www.JostensAdService.com.  The last day to order is January 31, 2018.  

 

Student of the Year Opportunity

The Leukemia Lymphoma Society is seeking motivated high school and college students who are interested in a leadership and philanthropy opportunity that ensures they stand out when engaging with peers and future employers.  You will also be making a real impact on the fight against blood cancers.  This 7 week campaign program will have students competing in a fundraising challenge to benefit the LLS.  The winning student/team will earn the title of Student of the Year as well as a variety of other incentives.  Need to sign up before the end of December, the campaign begins in February.  See Ms. Freise in room 237 for more details.

 

 

A+ tutors:  Washington Middle School is in need of A+ tutors after school on Tuesdays and Wednesdays from 3-4 p.m.  We are also needing a tutor for Geometery and college algebra for a student during TAP or after school.  If interested, please see Mrs. Luck in the office.  Please see Mrs. Luck in the office if you are interested.  

 

 

You’ve probably already heard the buzz: the destination for the July 2019 Global Student Leadership Summit has been announced. We’re going to Amsterdam and Switzerland!! If you want to find out how you might join, please email Miss Ogolin or come by room 339 during TAP. You don’t want to miss out!

 

 

Did you miss breakfast?  Feeling hungry?  Want something to eat NOW?  Beginning Monday, Grab & Go Breakfast is expanding.  Chef Nancy will now offer the chance to pick up a quick breakfast at the Grab & Go location next to Gym A during travel time after your first class of the day.  Stop by for some quick nutrition!

  • Parent Notes: Please remember that outside lunches, flowers, balloons and other items are not allowed to be delivered to MHS for students by you or others.  Thank you in advance for your cooperation!
  • Absences: If your student is absent from school, please call the attendance line to report their absence at 314-467-6020. Please state and spell your name, your student's name, their grade level, and the date(s) they are absent. Thank you.
  • Early Dismissals: Parents, if your student has an early dismissal, please remember to call the attendance office ahead of time so that your student will be able to leave on time as needed. 
  • School Closings Due to Inclement Weather:  The School Reach phone obtained through the district internet site at www.mehlvilleschooldistrict.com in an alert box at the top of the page. Additionally, you may tune in to TV channel 5, channel 4, channel 2 and 1120 or 20 AM Radio.

Student Parking:  MHS is sold out for parking this year.  Some local businesses rent parking spaces, however MHS is not affliated with those businesses.  If your student is parking at a business, please make sure they have secured an agreement with that facility.  Unauthorized parked vehicles are subject to being towed at that vehicle’s owner’s expense.
