SHOUT OUT

 

Congratulations to Catherine Adams and Sydney Scott, both Seniors, who received Superior rankings in their Individual Events in Theatre Design. They were 2 of only 4 people in the state to receive this ranking. This qualifies them to present in the International IE Competition this summer.

Catherine Adams also received the MO Thespian Technical Theatre Scholarship! She was 1 of 3 students in the state awarded this scholarship. Catherine is the 2nd student ever from MHS to receive a scholarship from the MO Thespian Society.

Rhiannon Creighton received exceptional praise for her performance in Iphigenia.

Lora Clark received high marks for her solo musical performance as did Ally Butler and Abby Carr in their duet musical.

*Are you interested in joining the yearbook staff for next year?  Do you want to control what goes into the yearbook and learn more about photography and graphic design?  The yearbook staff is now accepting new staffers, if you want to join put Yearbook Workshop class (0300) on your schedule for next year and get an application from Mrs. Stout in Room 106.  Applications are due by schedule conference day, Feb. 23.

 

Attention Spring Dual Credit Students: Be aware that spring course registration is now open on both the SLU-1818 and UMSL-ACP websites. MBU and MSU registrations will be available in your classrooms. If you have any questions, check with your dual credit teachers or Mrs.Neighbors regarding signing up for your courses. Pay attention to all deadlines. If you are interested in applying for a Spring Dual Credit Scholarship, applications are available in the Counseling Center.

 

Art Club will meet Monday, January 23rd, from 2:30-3:30 pm in Room 343. 

 

Attention Seniors!  The last date to order a senior baby ad for the yearbook is on February 5.  This is a great way to be recognized in the yearbook during your senior year. Ads come in a variety of sizes, styles and prices, and ALL ADS ARE IN FULL COLOR THIS YEAR!!!  Go to www.jostens.com/yearbookads to order and create your ad.

 

Winter Workouts for Girls - Mehlville will be offering speed and agility winter workouts for any Mehlville female student who would like to participate. Workouts will be on Sunday afternoons from 12:30 - 1:30 and will take place in Gym A. There is no cost for the program. Dates: January 22, 29, February 5, 12, 19. Contact the athletic office for more information.

 

Any student who wants to compete in the DECA Competition please stop by Room 218 to talk to Mrs. Spitznagel during TAP Tuesday or Thursday.  This is the last week to sign up.

 

Coming Summer 2018 spend a week on Broadway! See 3 Broadway shows and tour NYC, and take workshops with Broadway Actors.  Informational meeting on 1/26/17 @ 5:00 PM in Room 101 – Drama Room. This is open to students, alumni, parents, and MHS staff.

 

The cat is out of the bag: our Spring Break 2018 destination is Scotland & Ireland! If you'd like to enroll for this trip, please come by room 339 for more information.

 

Cornerstone will meet on Wednesday mornings in the Auditorium lobby at 6:45 am.  Both students and staff are welcome to join. 

Stop by the Java Jungle Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays outside of gym A before 7:05am and get a coffee, hot tea or hot chocolate to start your day!

  • Parent Notes: Please remember that outside lunches, flowers, balloons and other items are not allowed to be delivered to MHS for students by you or others.  Thank you in advance for your cooperation!
  • Absences: If your student is absent from school, please call the attendance line to report their absence at 314-467-6020. Please state and spell your name, your student's name, their grade level, and the date(s) they are absent. Thank you.
  • Early Dismissals: Parents, if your student has an early dismissal, please remember to call the attendance office ahead of time so that your student will be able to leave on time as needed. 
  • School Closings Due to Inclement Weather:  The School Reach phone obtained through the district internet site at www.mehlvilleschooldistrict.com in an alert box at the top of the page. Additionally, you may tune in to TV channel 5, channel 4, channel 2 and 1120 or 20 AM Radio.
