MHS presents check to The BackStoppersMehlville High School presented a $20,000 check to The BackStoppers in honor of Officer Michael Langsdorf, a MHS alum who was killed in the line of duty earlier this summer.

"Our school resource officer came in the next morning and knew he wanted to do something to support the family, and we had several staff members who wanted to help out knowing his dad had worked in the district for so many years," Principal Jason Landherr said.

The money was raised at a BBQ hosted at the school on July 27. The event featured the sale of donated food and drinks in addition to a raffle. MHS staff and students volunteered at the BBQ.

"That day was hectic," Landherr said. "We had a huge community turnout. We couldn't have been happier with how it went."

Landherr was proud of the Mehlville High School community for rallying together following the tragedy.

"We really view Mehlville High School as a family, and that extends beyond our building to our community," Landherr said. "We have great relationships with our students and our parents, and that showed with how many of them came out on that day. A lot of our alumni showed up, as well as our community members who just wanted to support us and support BackStoppers".
