Future Panther Families,
I hope this message finds you well. I am excited to share some upcoming events at Mehlville High School for our soon-to-be freshmen, the Class of 2029. Whether you have family members who attended MHS or this is your family’s first time joining the Panther community, one thing is certain: Mehlville is an amazing school with a positive, inclusive culture. We are thrilled for your child’s high school journey to begin! #WeAreMehlville
To support your student’s transition to MHS and ensure your family feels welcome, we invite you to attend student-led conferences on Wednesday, January 15. This annual event is a wonderful opportunity for families to meet individually with their student’s anticipated Panther Prep advisory teacher to review course options, discuss post-secondary goals, and enter course requests into Infinite Campus. There will also be opportunities to learn about clubs, activities, and athletics. Interpreter services will be available. Conference times are from 12:00 PM to 7:00 PM.
Your child’s advisory teacher will contact you during the week of December 9 to schedule your family’s individual conference. In the meantime, I encourage you to review the High School Course Description Guide, which serves as a detailed academic resource. The 2024-25 guide is linked, and the updated 2025-26 version will be available soon.
You may have already heard about these conferences and course scheduling from your student’s teacher or counselor at the middle schools. They have been collaborating with us since September to make this transition smooth. I’ll also attend the Buerkle PTO meeting on December 10 and the Washington PTO meeting on January 8 to provide more details and answer parent/guardian questions.
In addition to the conferences, MHS is hosting an eighth-grade visit on January 13, from 9:30-11:30 AM. District buses will transport students from Washington and Buerkle to MHS. This student-only event will allow your child to meet their Panther Prep advisory teacher, connect with peers, and learn more about the MHS experience. Please encourage your student to wear MHS gear or green and white!
Thank you for your partnership in making this transition smooth and successful. If you have any questions or need assistance, please don’t hesitate to reach out.
